TRACK AND FIELD
Fintan Kerins (Clonliffe Harriers) was the winner of the grade A men’s 1500m at the eighth and final Dublin Graded Track and field meet of the season held in Santry on Wednesday (July 29), which attracted a healthy entry from all over the country. Kerins crossed the line in 3:52.45 after close battle with Conor McGuirk (Lusk AC) who finished second in 3:52.73. Oisin McGloin (Lagan Valley AC was third in 3:53.55. Winning the women’s Grade A 1500m was Catherine Martin (Lagan Valley AC) in 4:30.86. Kate Nurse (UCD AC) was second in 4:32.70 and Isabel Cuffe (Lucan Harriers) third in 4:36.29. In the other women’s grades, Robyn Carey (Lusk AC) won grade B in 4:46.87 with Emma Goddard (DSD AC) second in 4:56.15, while Jade Murphy (Crusaders AC) won Grade C in 5:11.69. Adam Bradley (Celbridge AC) won men’s grade B in 4:05,9 ahead of two visiting athletes from North Down AC. Donagh Carey (Mullingar Harriers) led home twenty athletes in Grade C in a time of 4:21.35 with Said Adbiwahab Muhudin (Clonliffe Harriers, 185) a close second in 4:21.54. Winning Grade D was Eoin Durkan (Donore Harriers) in 4:27.01. Dylan Forman (Raheny Shamrock AC) was second in 4:27.51.
A total of twelve 100m races were held, seven of them for men, and in the finals, Dami Pearse (Tallaght AC) won the women’s race in 12.70m with Nicole Walker (An Riocht AC) second in 12.80 and Grainne Diamond Ebbs (Clonliffe Harriers AC) third in 12.93. Delighted to win the men’s final in 10.84 secs was Samuel Babajide (Metro St Brigid’s AC). Alamin Bankole (Fingallians AC 20) was second in 10.90 and Charlie Bastow (Crusaders 21) third in 11.14.
In the field, national champion Anna Gavigan (LSA AC) won the women’s discus with a throw of 51.99. Eoin Sheridan (Clonliffe Harriers) proved best of the men with 51.68. Joe Bracken (Lucan Harriers) won the men’s javelin with 46.79, with Irish record holder Anita White (DSD AC) first women with a throw of 36.66. DSD had a double in the pole vault with Kevin Byrne best of the men and Barbara Tapia the women’s winner ahead of her club-mate Alison Beck.
In the long jump, Eva Munnelly (Cabinteely AC) was first woman with a best of 5.36.

TRACK AND FIELD - AT THE IFAM, BELGIUM
At the IFAM Oordegem in Belgium on Saturday (August 1), Faye Dervan (DCH) dipped under 16 minutes in the 5000m when finishing 14th in her heat in a personal best 15:57.61. In the men’s 400m, Jack Raftery (Donore Harriers) ran a season’s best 45.72 secs for eighth overall from 106 finishers less than a week after winning the national title. Iseult O’Donnell (Raheny Shamrock AC) ran a personal best 2:04.82 for 15th overall in the women’s 800m, with 72 starters divided into seven heats. Luke Murphy (Raheny Shamrock AC) clocked 1:49.76 and Andrew McGilton (DSD AC) 1:51.33 in the mens’ 800m races, with 144 finishers in that event. Also running were Kyle Moorhead (Craughwell AC), Sean Carrigg (Clonliffe Harriers), Antoine Roquette (DSD AC), and Conor Flaherty (Clonmel AC).
ROADS
Michael Brady (Raheny Shamrock AC) was the winner of the postponed 10th Battle of Clontarf 10-Mile, held at St Anne’s Park Dublin on Bank Holiday Monday. Brady proved the class of the field winning in 51 mins 20 secs, with Kevin Minnock (Tullamore Harriers, M35) second in 53:26 and Colm Turner (Brothers Pearse, M40) third in 53:52. Fourth and first woman was Alice Wright (Dublin Track Club) in 55:55. Chasing her home for fifth place was Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock AC, M40) in 55:24. Sarah Diamond (Kilcoole AC) was second woman in 59:40 and Lauren Dermody (Castlecomer AC) third in 60:145. Fourth woman and first W40 in 61:59 was Fiona Stack (Raheny Shamrock AC). In the age groups, Dublin winners were Shirley Coyle (Raheny Shamrock AC) W45, Dee O’Keeffe (Brothers Pearse AC) W50, Patricia Forde (Blackrock AC) W55, Grainne Grennan (Blackrock AC) W65, Padraig Mahony (Brothers Pearse AC) M50, Tom O’Neill (Metro St Brigid’s AC) M65, Donal Murphy (Rathfarnham WSAF AC) M70. Finishing second M55 in his first race for a while was Noel Cullen (Clonliffe Harriers). The race was also a Leinster Championship and winning both the men and women’s senior team categories was Raheny Shamrock. In the over 35 class, the Donore Harriers men and the Crusaders women were the winners, with the Mullingar Harriers men and the Blackrock women taking the over 50 titles. Dublin won both Leinster county titles.
On Sunday (August 2), Hugh Armstrong (Ballina AC/Dublin TC) won the Inner City RC 5km based at the Henrietta Flats, in Dublin’s north city with a time of 15:07. Jack Doyle (Clonliffe Harriers) was second in 16:05 and Eoin Healy ( DSD AC) third in 16:06. Narangarav Gankhuyag was first woman in 19:51. A total of 1,028 completed the run.
In Ardfert, Co Kerry, Finn Woodger (Metro St Brigid’s AC) won the Banna 5km in 15:42 and in a Dublin double, Margaret Foley (Crusaders AC) was first woman in 19:25.
Donore junior Rhys Johnson finished second in the Trasna 5km in Naas Co Kildare on Saturday (August 1) in 15:27. Lauren Tinkler (DCH AC) was first woman in 17:23, with Lorraine O’Connor (Clonliffe Harriers) second in 17:39.
At the the Streets of Athboy 5km, in Co Meath on Friday (July 31), Kieran Little (Blackrock AC, M35) finished second in 15:35 while Robert O’Brien (Bros Pearse AC) was first M40.
